CLASS OF 2015

  • Danny Hunt

For the past five decades, Danny Hunt has been entrenched among the legends of Hardin County football. As the starting quarterback of the 1961 and 1962 squads, he etched memories in the minds of teammates and fans that are just as vivid today as they were back then. During his senior campaign, he was named to the All-Volunteer Conference and All-West Tennessee teams while leading the Tigers to a 10-1 record and the Volunteer Conference Championship. Heavily recruited by many top programs, he accepted a scholarship to play for the highly ranked Ole Miss Rebels where he impressed as a freshman. He later transferred to the University of Tennessee-Martin.

  • J.B. McCaleb

Few people in the history of Hardin County athletics are responsible for a span of influence as broad as that of J.B. McCaleb. In the 1950s he became well known for providing team meals and player transportation to away games. At no cost, he took photos and films used by teams for review. He was also the most faithful of fans, rarely missing a football or basketball game. In 1982, his decades of service led the Hardin County Quarterback Club to begin honoring the most outstanding defensive player with the J.B. McCaleb Award. Along with his friend Con T. Welch, he is the namesake of the McCaleb-Welch Gymnasium at Hardin County High School. McCaleb passed away in 1994.

  • Chris Pierce

While many people enjoy an afternoon on the golf course, Chris Pierce dominated on the links like few others. After a stellar prep career for Hardin County in the mid-1980s, he was awarded a scholarship to the University of Tennessee-Martin where he took his game to new heights. While at UTM, he played in three NCAA Division II National Championships, and during his senior campaign he was a 6-time All-Tournament Team selection. He was medalist in 3 different collegiate invitational tournaments, highlighted by an individual Gulf South Conference Championship in 1988. In recognition for his outstanding career, he was inducted into UTM Athletic Hall of Fame in 2007.
